Obituary for Joyce Lee Theilen

Joyce Lee Theilen, age 64, of Nora Springs, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at her home.

A memorial service will be Monday, July 20, 2015, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with Pastor Ed Bard officiating. Inurnment will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel.

Family suggests memorial contributions to National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Joyce was born September 4, 1950, the daughter of Harley and Dorothy (Tobin) Bell in Charles City. She graduated from Charles City High School, class of 1969. She was united in marriage to Joseph Theilen on June 24, 1972, in Rockford.

Joyce worked for Wal-Mart as a sales clerk for many years. She also volunteered at the First United Methodist Church Winnie the Pooh daycare in Nora Springs. She enjoyed her Betty Boop collection, camping, listening to country music, walking her dog, Peanut, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also cherished spending countless nights sitting out underneath the tree in her yard with Joe.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Joseph Theilen of Nora Springs; three children: Denise Willsher of Nora Springs, Sandra (David) Willsher of Kensett, and Joseph Theilen of Mason City; two grandchildren, Olivia and Ryan Willsher of Kensett; three siblings: Marge (Don) Weiner of Rockford, Gloria Baltes of Nora Springs, and James (Bonnie) Bell of Brighton, Iowa; and her four-legged friend, Peanut.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, John Willsher; a brother, Marvin Alderman; and a sister, Betty Alderman.
