Joseph "Joe" Ruzich, 53, passed away July 14, 2015, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Martha Bennett from Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd will be officiating. Cremation will take place following the service.

A visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015, and will continue an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Joseph James Ruzich, the son of Joseph and Faye (Connelly) Ruzich, born on July 6, 1962 in Mason City, Iowa. In 1981 he graduated from Mason City High School. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Lovik on February 15, 1992 at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Joe and Cheryl had a beautiful daughter, Alicia, whom he loved dearly. He was so proud of Alicia and everyone knew it. For 15 years he was a devoted salesman for Plumb Supply Company in Mason City.

He was elected to the City Council of Floyd and served the city proudly. Joe enjoyed detailing cars in his immaculate garage, riding his Harley (his pride and joy), sharing stories, camping with friends and family, and played on the men's slow pitch league in Mason City. He was a passionate, good hearted man who always helped everyone, and had a great sense of humor. Joe was a devoted loving, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.

Living family members include his wife of 23 years, Cheryl of Floyd; daughter, Alicia Ruzich of Floyd; three siblings: Tom (Joni) Ruzich of Stillwater, Minnesota, Joette Gerdes of Manly, and Denise (John) Funk of Mason City; mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Virginia Lovik of Floyd; three sister-in-laws: Karen (Jamie) Farrell of Eagle Grove, Lavonne (Wayne) Guenther of Osage, and Brenda (Randy) Carter of Nashua; many nieces and nephews; and a dog, Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William "Bill" Ruzich; and brother-in-law, George Gerdes.

The family requests that everyone who is able, please ride your motorcycles on Saturday to the funeral home so that we can all proceed to Floyd for the luncheon at the church.
