Ralph Eugene Winchell – September 2, 1860 Marble Rock – December 15, 1927 Red Owl, Meade, South Dakota

Gene Winchell, who was born at Marble Rock 67 years ago, died at his home at Red Owl, South Dakota, on Thursday.

Mr. Winchell has been ill since last spring, when he had a severe attack of pneumonia, followed by an abscess upon one lung which later developed into cancer. A few weeks ago he was brought to the hospital at Rochester, hoping that something could be done to stay the disease, but the case was pronounced hopeless, and after spending a few days with relatives in Charles City, he return to his home at Red Owl.

Mr. Winchell spent nearly all of his life at Marble Rock, moving to South Dakota some years ago. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Lois Meyer, of Britt; one son, Oscar, of Red Owl; one sister, Mrs. Claola Rex of Charles City; two brothers, Clark Winchell and D. g. Winchell, of Minnesota.

Funeral services and interment were held at Red Owl, South Dakota.
