Herman Nikolas – October 18, 1857 – March 29, 1915
OBITUARY
Herman Nikolas was born in Germany October 18, 1857. He died in Rockford, Iowa March 28, 1915. He finished his schooling at the age of fifteen and then learned the trade of Cabinet maker.
He came to America in 1881 finding a home in Wisconsin where he remained for one year then came to Floyd County where he has since resided. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Mr. Nikolas has worked for a great many people during the years of his residence here and his work as well as all his dealings with his fellow men was scrupulously honest and very often he refused to accept the wages usually paid to other workmen of his ability.
Mr. Nikolas was never married.
He is survived by one brother, William Nikolas, of Marble Rock, two sisters and two half-brothers who still reside in Germany.The funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Marble Rock, Wednesday March 31, conducted by Rev. L. W. Inman
