Joseph Lines – October 6, 1867 – November 29, 1929

FORMER RESIDENT PASSES AWAY

Joseph Lines, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lines, of Marble Rock, died Friday at his home at Neligh, Nebraska.

Death came suddenly following a stroke. Mr. Lines was 62 years of age, and is survived by his widow, who formerly was Miss Elizabeth Ritter, of Marble Rock, three brothers, Jacob, of Neligh; Frank and George, of Colorado; three sisters, Mrs. A B. Moffett, of Marble Rock; Mrs. Will Halstead, of Frederick, Wisconsin; and Mrs. Laura **Weigint, of Denver, Colorado.

All the brothers and sisters were present at the funeral, held I the Christian church here Tuesday afternoon. The sermon was preached by Rev. L. W. Inman, and beautiful selections were sung by Mrs. Elizabeth Oeser and Mrs. W. C. Wilson, accompanied by Mrs. S. W. McNinch.

Joseph Lines was respected by all who knew him, and all join in expressing their sympathy and condolence to the bereaved brothers and sisters.

One of the most fitting remarks in regard to Mr. Lines was made by the minister when he said, “I have known Joe Lines all of my life and I have never known him to do or say a mean thing.”
The pall bearers were his six cousins, Elmer, Lowell, Clyde, Ed, Tom and Harry Lines.

Note** the Laura Weigint, of Denver, Colorado mentioned in his obit was actually
Lura May (Lines) WEYGINT. She was born January 25, 1890 in Iowa and died January 1972 in Colorado. She married William Calhoon Weygint.
