Jessie May (Hagerty) Hancock – April 1881 -- 1924

Marble Rock – A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Hancock, Tuesday, the mother passing away 2 days later.

Leaving to mourn her untimely death was her husband and nine children.

Funeral services were held here Saturday afternoon.

Jessie May Hagerty was born April 1881 in Iowa, the daughter of John and Catherine (Luce) Hagerty.
(From 1900 US Census: Lick Creek, Davis, Iowa). Maiden name also Hagerty in an Iowa birth record for child: Isyl Hancock born July 16, 1919 in Iowa to John Hancock and Jessie Hagerty. Mothers’ maiden name from death record for her brother John Dustin Hagerty born 1877 who died in Washington March 7, 1943.

In the 1920 Census: Scott, Floyd, Iowa they had 7 children as of that census
Harold, Orval, James, Dorothy Kenoma, Irene, and Isyl.
In 1930 her husband was living in Wood County, Wisconsin and only one other daughter is listed; Lorraine born abt 1922 in Iowa.

She married John Wesley Hancock Jr., the son of John Wesley Hancock Sr., and Mary Frances (Kendrick) Hancock. He was born February 17, 1874 in Iowa and died February 17, 1937 in Wisconsin.
