John Henry Ewald – February 21, 1892 – May 2, 1968

RITES HELD FOR JOHN EWALD, 76

John Henry Ewald, 76, passed away on Thursday, May 2nd, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. He was born February 21, 1892 at Marble Rock, the son of John and Rebecca, nee Rochen Ewald.

He farmed all his life in the Marble Rock community.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie; one son, Claude Ewald, of Rockford; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marvel) Nash, of Allerton, Iowa, and Mrs. Eleanor Howard, of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; one brother Henry Ewald, of Marble Rock; and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Lines and Mrs. Herschel Handley, of Marble Rock.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 6th, at 2:00 o’clock at St. James Lutheran Church in Marble Rock with Rev. Stephen Englestad officiating. Burial was held in Westside Cemetery in Marble Rock. Reid’s Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
