Melvin Majewski, 91, of Charles City, formerly of Greene, passed away June 23, 2015, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Father Carl Schmitt will celebrate the Mass. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Friends may call at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday.

Melvin Charles Majewski, the son of John and Grace (Strong) Majewski, was born on May 30, 1924 in rural Greene, Iowa. He attended school at The Academy in Greene. Melvin and Berdine Kielman were united in marriage on February 19, 1949, at St. Mary's Catholic Rectory. He and his twin brother, Melvo, married two of the Kielman sisters. Melvin farmed for most of his life in the rural Greene area. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene before moving to Charles City in 1988. Melvin was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a hardworking man who loved his family and telling stories to his grandchildren. Melvin enjoyed farming, fixing items with his JB Weld, getting lucky at the casino, fishing with his boys, and taking bus trips with his wife.

Living family members include his wife, Berdine of Charles City; his two sons: Dennis (Pam) Majewski, and Duane (Robin) Majewski of Greene; four grandchildren: Tricia (Chase) Schrage, Jenna (Kane) Lindsay, Tyler (Rachel) Majewski, and Melissa (Brian) Johannsen; five great grandchildren: Trey, Mason, Louis, Callen, Drake and a baby Majewski due in July; a brother, Lewis (Phyllis) Majewski of Greene; three sisters-in-law; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Melvo; and a brother, Lloyd.
