RUDD, IOWA - Sandra Jean Moore, 77, of Rudd died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

She was born January 11, 1938, in Mason City, the daughter of Allen and Virginia (Lichtenstein) Johnson. Sandy graduated from Mason City High School, and before she was married worked as a telephone operator in both Colorado and Iowa. She married Leland Moore on November 2, 1957, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason City. She spent her life loving her children and grandchildren, helping Leland run Moore's Car Wash in the North Iowa area, and working as the bookkeeper for their jointly owned Moore’s LP Gas business until their retirement in 1996.

After retiring, Sandy became a fulltime volunteer and served 20 years on the Rudd Park Board, where her vision for Rudd's East Park and Lake become a reality. Her hard work was commemorated in Sanmor Drive that now leads to the entrance of the lake.

Sandy was an active member of Rudd United Methodist Church and volunteered at Rudd's annual haunted house, where she recruited grandkids, their friends, and anyone else she encountered as volunteers. She was an avid gardener, devoted Hawkeye fan, excellent cook, and proud of her Norwegian heritage, presiding over annual lefse-making gatherings whose bounties were shared with relatives near and far. Sandy was "Gramma" to everyone who happened through her front door, and was loved by all who knew her.

Sandy is survived by her husband Leland; children, Tammy Wood of Rudd, Kim (Dennis) Popp of Osage, and Timm (Robin) Moore of Rudd; 10 grandchildren, Nikki (Ben) Nagel, Brittnee (Blaine) Crawford, Adam Popp, Steven (Cassandra) Moore, Kelli Wood, Cody Wood, Savannah Moore, Sabrina Moore, Joe Popp, and Ben Popp; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Karin McComb of Minneapolis, Margaret "Muggie" Movick of Mason City, and Nancy McKenzie of Phoenix; and a brother, Allen (Thumper) Johnson of Wichita, Kansas.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; three brother-in-laws; and one sister-in-law.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, at 11 a.m., with a one hour visitation prior to the service, and a luncheon to follow. Both will be held at Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St. in Rudd.

Flowers can be sent to the church on Tuesday, June 16, after noon.

Funeral service preparations were made through Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services in Cedar Rapids.
