Marvin "Marv" Baxter, 73, of Charles City, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Charles City. Pastor Ruth Yeaton will officiate. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Marvin Eugene Baxter, the son of Everett and Lilie (Gaiser) Baxter was born on November 13, 1941 in Charles City, Iowa. He graduated from Greene High School in 1960. Marvin and Ardythe Mertens were united in marriage on June 2, 1963 at the Little Brown Church. He was a devoted hardworking man who worked in maintenance for Oliver/White Farm for 32 years, GMT for seven years and ConAgra in Mason City for five years. Marvin was a member of the First Baptist Church and on the Board of Trustees at the church in Charles City.

He was a social man who never knew a stranger and always helped others. Marv enjoyed fishing, canoeing, biking, tinkering in the garage, cutting wood, and watching his grandchildren's sporting events and performances. Above all he loved spending quality time with his family and especially taking their annual fishing trip to Canada.

Living family members include his wife, Ardythe of Charles City; three children: Lisa (Greg) Ward of Alta Vista, Jody (Tricia) Baxter of Charles City, and Tracy (Tasha) Baxter of Charles City; seven grandchildren: Emily (Dan) Mohring, Alan Ward, Rachel, Jonathan, Jordan, and Landon Baxter, and MadisonJo Johnson; two great grandchildren: Lilie and Greg Mohring; one brother, Gary (Iris) Baxter; and two nephews Rick (Floy) Baxter, and Rod (Mindi) Baxter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
