Lawrence Peters, 95, of Charles City died Friday, June 19, 2015, at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2015, at Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Beranek from Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Friends may call at Hauser Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service on Monday.

Lawrence George Peters, the son of George and Helen (Goldhorn) Peters, was born on February 25, 1920 in Grundy Center. He attended school in Grundy Center. In 1942 he joined the Army and served for three years. Lawrence and Helen Dostart were united in marriage on February 14, 1942 in Charles City. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and Moose, and a member of the American Legion. Lawrence enjoyed fishing and camping. His family knew him for his huge, loving heart and the quality time he spent with them.

Living family members include a son, Jon (Petra) Peters of South Elgin, Illinois; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two great-great grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents; son, David Peters; daughter-in-law, Louise Peters; two brothers: Arthur and John Peters; five sisters: Esther Powell, Ethel Fredricks, Vie Raisty, Lillian Albright, and Marian Starkweather.
