Dean Schlick was born on a farm outside Charles City to Doris Schlick and Marvin Schlick on September 7, 1919. He married the love of his life Geneva K. Davidson on October 18, 1941. They moved to Elgin, Illinois where he went to watchmaker school. World War II broke out and dad was sent to Texas to fix Norden Bombsights in the Airforce where Ronald Dean Schlick was born May 26, 1944. After the war Dean got a job as a watchmaker in Algona, Iowa. He didn't like working for others so then started Dean Jewelers in Charles City.
Dad loved to hunt deer and pheasants, fish for walleyes and trout, make wine and weave baskets. In his younger years he knitted his own wool socks. He was a very loving husband and father, grandfather, exceptional businessman, and treated everyone with respect.
He will be missed very much by his family and friends.
Dad is survived by his loving son David and his wife Mary, his grandson Joshua and his wife Tonia, and Ashton, and his grandson Matthew.
Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gen Schlick and dear son Ron Schlick.
We will miss you with all our hearts until we are reunited in heaven.
