Gerald "Jerry" Prior, 73, of Charles City died Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Sister Diana Blong from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City will officiate.

Friends may call at Hauser Funeral Home an hour prior to the service on Friday.

Gerald Arthur Prior, the son of Paul and Charollette (Stowell) Prior, was born on December 10, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa. He attended school in Waterloo, Iowa and joined the Army in 1958 and served his country for four year. For 45 years Jerry was a devoted truck driver. After retiring from trucking he worked for Gray Transportation as a dispatcher.

He was united in marriage to Janet White on October 7, 1964 in Kenmore, New York. Jerry was a member of the VFW. He loved music; he played guitar in a band, and listened to old country westerns. Jerry enjoyed fishing, grilling (Everyday!), working on cars, and traveling. Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family. He always lived life to the fullest.

Living family members include his wife, Janet, of 50 years, his two sons: Paul (Angela Knight) Prior of New Hampton, and Eric (Mindy Lensing) Prior of Mason City; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers: John (Betty) Stewart of Marble Rock, and Mike (Cindy) Stewart of Lead Hill, Arkansas; three sisters: Paula, Jackie, and JoAnn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joe Stewart; and a son, Frankie Burnside.
