Service: A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Emil's life, Friday, April 17, 2015 at Hauser Funeral Home.

Emil E. Vasut, Jr., 56, of Charles City, passed away Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A gathering of family and friends celebrating Emil's life will be held at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015.

Emil Edward Vasut, Jr., the son of Emil Sr. and Daphene (Zahradnick) Vasut, was born July 7, 1958 in Eagle Lake, Texas. He grew up in Eagle Lake and spent most of his adult life farming. Emil moved to Iowa to be closer to his sister and mother many years ago.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, playing his guitar and puzzles. Emil really enjoyed the life of a bachelor until he met the love of his life, Cheryl, whom he married in 2009. Although he faced numerous health issues, Emil could put a smile on anyone's face and his sense of humor was contagious. He never met anyone that didn't like him and he was always generous and caring for others.

Living family members include his sister, Rosemary Tobin of Charles City; a brother, Paul Vasut of Eagle Lake, Texas; nephews: Karl Vasut, Kelly Vasut and Hunter Vasut, all of Texas; along with many cousins, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl; parents, Emil Sr. and Daphene Vasut; brother-in-law, Robert Tobin, Sr.; and grandparents.
