Ranny Jay Hoffarth, 64, of Rockford, Iowa, died, Saturday, April 11, 2015, while working at the United Methodist Church in Rockford.

Celebration of his life will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15th, at the Plymouth United Methodist Church, with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 14th at Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly from 4-7 pm., and also one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Habitat for Humanity or the Humane Society of North Iowa.

Ranny was born October 14th, 1950 in Williston, ND., son of Jacob and Patricia (Fishbeck) Hoffarth. Ranny moved to Grafton, Iowa at a young age with his parents and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1969. Following High School he lived in various locations including Clear Lake, Iowa, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sedona, Aarizona, and returned to Grafton, Iowa, before settling in Rockford, Iowa, with his beautiful bride Carol in May of 2012.

Ranny was a jack of all trades for many people. Everyone knew they could call him for anything, and he would come “fix” your problem.

Ranny was also known for carefully observing the speed limit, except that one trip to Montana. He was a lover of dogs, lawn care, hot dogs, and ice cream. Ranny was kind, patient, big-hearted, and never met a “stranger” in his life.

Ranny is survived by his wife, Carol Hoffarth, sisters Edie (Mike) Prazak, Darcee (Tom) Johanns, Joany (Tom) Holmes, son Joshua Larson, step-daughters Gretchen (Jeremy) Shuler, Heidi Schlader, and grandson Callen Shuler. He is also survived by Auntie Marilyn Fishbeck, aunt Eva Brown of Montana, and nieces and nephews: Hollie Hoffarth, Summer Rose, Kelly Neuberger, Jake Prazak , Cassie Munoz, Matt Lovstad , Warren Lovstad, Blayne Holmes, Haley Holmes, Jordan Johanns, Gabe Johanns, Wade Johanns, and Shaye Petersen.

He was preceded in death by parents Jake and Patty Hoffarth, brother Gib Hoffarth, sister Dawn Lovstad, and his faithful companion Tanner-boy.
