GREENE, IOWA - Paul B. Nixt, 80, of Greene, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, Mason City.

He was born April 18, 1926, in Union Township, Floyd County, son of Louis Francis and Anna Marzen Nixt. He married Mary Lou Scofield Aug. 29, 1950, in Dubuque. She died Oct. 23, 1985.

He graduated from the Marble Rock Public Schools in 1944. Mr. Nixt farmed with his wife east of Greene until 1983. In 1968 they established Nixt's Candle Shop and operated it until his retirement in 1989.

Survived by four sons, George (Susan), James (Laura Simpkins) and Michael (Ruth), all of Greene, and Stephen (Geri) of St. Michael, Minn.; two daughters, Sharon (John) Daub of Mason City and Theresa "Terry" Schrage of Bristow; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Andrew (Marcella) of Greene.

Preceded in death by two children, Mark Nixt and Lois Nixt; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a son-in-law, Brad Schrage; two sisters, Mary Schoenfeldt and Norma Rottinghaus; and a brother, Cletus George Nixt.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, both in Greene. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, where there will be a 7 p.m. scriptural wake service and a 7:30 p.m. rosary, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Greene Volunteer Ambulance Fund.
