Stephen Henry Reckard – August 23, 1893 – March 3, 1973
Stephen H. Reckard died Saturday afternoon March 3 at Fritzes Nursing Home in Nashua where he had been a patient for one year and four months. He was also a resident at the Chatuaqu Guest Home in Charles City for about six months before that.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday March 6th at 2 p.m. at the Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Lemmermann officiating.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.Stephen Henry Reckard was born August 23, 1893 at Duncombe Iowa the son of Phineous Eugene and Addie Adella (Jamison) Reckard.
After he graduated from Duncombe high school at Duncombe he came to Nora Springs and was in the garage business at Nora Springs for many years.
He was married to Flora Ruth Hill of Nora Springs on March 29, 1916 at Mason City. To this union two sons were born Donald of Edgerton, Wisconsin and Gale of San Bernardino, California.
He was a member of the First Christian Church at Nora Springs.After the death of his wife in 1940 he moved to Charles City. He was married to Joy V Moore of Nashua June 20, 1942 at Austin, Minnesota. The couple had one son Tommy Steve of Nashua.
He was a retired employee of the Oliver Corporation where he had worked for 19 years. In 1953 they moved to a home in Nashua and had lived there since.
He is survived by his wife Joy, one son Gale of San Bernardino, California, one sister, Mrs. Lee (Eva) Kelley of Seal Beach, California and a niece of Downey, California and also eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son Donald of Edgerton, Wisconsin, an infant son Tommy Steve of Nashua, one sister, Mrs. Willard (Edna) Olden of Toppenish, Washington, and two nephews.
