Rev. Sharon Ann Sours, daughter of Claire and Lucille (Pratt) Sours was born December 21, 1949 in Charles City. In between those two major events, she lived an interesting life. She moved with the family to Badger Village, Wisconsin, in 1952 where she lived until the family moved back to Ventura in 1961. She also lived in Klemme, Sheffield, and Nashua before returning to Charles City in 1974.
Sharon graduated from Sheffield High School in 1968. She worked at various jobs before entering the ministry full time. She earned her credentials by attending Trinity Bible Institute in Ellendale, North Dakota. and was later ordained into the Assembly of God Church as a minister.
Sharon met Jean Clark in 1970. The two formed an instant connection and friendship that lasted until her death. Rev. Sharon and Rev. Jean formed Broadcasters for Jesus Ministries, Inc., (BFJMI) in 1973. The two traveled throughout the United States and the Philippines singing and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ impacting lives wherever they went at home or abroad. Rev. Sharon had a heart for ministering to lost and hurting souls.
She spent many hours counseling and praying for and with individuals desiring that they obtain the same peace she had received through her faith in Jesus. She never left home without believing she would encounter an "assignment" as she called them to minister to someone.
May that someone be a long-time friend, an acquaintance, or someone she had never met, she was ready and willing to minister to them. Throughout her years of ministering the gospel, she would come home ready to share her joy in witnessing miracles of all kinds whether they were spiritual, emotional, or physical with family and friends. And as she shared these stories, she always gave God the praise for what He had done in the lives of so many people. Rev. Sharon was so thankful to be allowed the privilege of being a vessel God used to reach souls with the Gospel.
She is survived by her sister, Eileen (Willis) Beebe of Eagle Grove; nieces, Michelle (Ken) Ferguson of Casa Grande, Arizona, Maureen Haxton of Fargo, North Dakota, and Joleen Haxton of Gilbert, Arizona; a great-nephew, Ryan Stoor of Casa Grande, Arizona; a great-niece, Dylan Stoor of Gilbert, Arizona; and many cousins.
Rev. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Claire and Lucille (Pratt) Sours; her brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Marilyn (Agre) Sours; her grandparents, Clifton and Vera (Bower) Sours, and Don and Phyllis (Soward) Pratt.
