FUNERAL TUESDAY FOR NORA SPRINGS WOMAN

Nora Springs – Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Church in Nora Springs for Mrs. W. P. Haight, 62, who died Saturday following several years’ illness. The rites were conducted by the Rev. H. D. Green of Coggon, who, while serving as a pastor of the Nora Springs Methodist Church in 1922, officiated at the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Haight.

Mrs. Haight, nee Bertha Evelyn Aldrich, the youngest of 10 children of James M. and Idelia Bacon Aldrich, was born on her parents’ farm in Alamakee County, near Lansing, October 13, 1888.

She, with two sisters, came to Nora Springs about 1908. She taught piano here and at Rockford until her marriage to W. P. Haight on August 8, 1922, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. One child, Wilberta, was born to this union.

At an early age she joined the Methodist Church and remained a faithful member throughout the rest of her life. She was organist in the church here, taught a Sunday school class for many years, and was otherwise active and a regular attendant until failing health prevented.

She is survived by her husband, 3 children, Mrs. Clovis (Wilberta) Haire of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mrs. Harold (Verna) Zimmer of Colwell, and Earl Haight of Mason City; 5 grandchildren, Glenda Lea, Sharon Sue and Michael Harold Zimmer; Robert James and Iris Jane Haight of Mason City; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Colbornson of Victor and Mrs. Joe Johnson of Waukon.
