PIONEER’S RITES AT NORA SPRINGS
MRS. IDA DOBSON, 73, HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF IOWA SINCE 1884Nora Springs, June 27 – Funeral services were held at the home in Nora Springs, Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Ida Grover Dobson, 73, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. H. Banton at Charles City, Monday morning, the Rev. H. A. Crumb, pastor of the Methodist church, conducting the services.
She was born and reared at Burrits, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin and Elizabeth Grover. At the age of 18 she was married to Louis Dobson and they continued to live at Burrits until 1884 when Mr. and Mrs. Dobson moved to Iowa and lived on their farm two miles south of Nora Springs for many years. Another daughter and a son were born there.
Twenty-four years ago the family moved into Nora Springs and lived in the home Mrs. Dobson has occupied since. Mr. Dobson died in 1917.
Those who survive her are three daughters, Mrs. Lutie Sheckler, Hollywood, California; Mrs. Ray Temple, Sac City; one son, O. V. Dobson, Durango, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Cornelia Paulson of Rockford, Illinois, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Methodist church, the Legion Auxiliary and Daughters of the American Revolution. Tho in failing health for several months she occupied her home here until a month ago she went to Dr. Banton’s home in Charles City to receive care. Seriously ill from cancer of the pancreas, no one thought the end was so near.
Her son and sister from the west reached here the morning of the funeral. Mrs. Sheckler and Mrs. Temple had come to be with their mother before her death. Burial was in Rock Grove Cemetery beside her husband and daughter, Flossie.
