Steven Floy - Rockwell

Funeral Services for Steven Gregory Floy, 61, of Rockwell, will be 10:30 a.m., January 2, 2015, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Rockwell with Pastor Rhea Evanson officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will be from 4:00 -7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 1, 2015, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Rockwell.

Steven Gregory Floy was born April 29, 1953, in Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa, the son of Marvin Robert and Gladys Lucille (Davis) Floy and passed away Monday, December 29, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

He received his elementary education in Charles City. After moving to Thornton he attended and graduated from Meservey Thornton High School in 1971. Steve attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota where he majored in Elementary Education. He was employed for IMI Cornelius in Mason City.

On September 11, 1976, he was united in marriage to Dawn Swenson in Swaledale, Iowa. This union was blessed with two children. Following their marriage Steve worked for Alexander Batteries in Mason City, and then for Larson Manufacturing in Clear Lake.

Steve was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Rockwell. He enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, antiquing, woodworking, refinishing, and old cars. Steve was a kind and loving individual who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Dawn; one daughter, Jennifer (Rob) Benson of Rockwell; one son, Matthew Floy of Mason City; one grandson, Lucas Benson; one brother, Timothy Floy of Thornton; mother-in-law, Marjorie Swenson, Swaledale; brothers-in-law: Steven Swenson, and Keven (April) Swenson all of Rockwell; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Donald Swenson.
