NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Raphael J. Rottinghaus, 84, of Nora Springs, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.

He was born January 13, 1921, in Seneca, Kansas, son of Jacob and Marie Lorson Rottinghaus. He married Madelyn Engels on June 10, 1947, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Rockford.

Mr. Rottinghaus served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a corporal, and had been a farmer.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Diane (John) Fishering of Normal, Ill., Joan (Gary) Linahon of Ames and Chris (Ed) Masters of Clear Lake; four sons, Dan (Judy) of Nashua, and John (LuAnn), Mike (Denise) and David (Cheryl), all of Nora Springs; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Juanita Engels, Ellen Geheb, Patty Garnier, Anna Marie Suppes and Beatrice "Betty" Suppes; and two brothers, Henry "Bud" and Richard "Dick."

Preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Knipp and Sister Erma Rottinghaus; and a brother, Robert.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City, with burial in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. Full military rites will be conducted by Nora Springs American Legion HDS Post 449. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Scheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs, with a 4:45 p.m. rosary.

Memorials may be directed to the Nora Springs Catholic Community Center.
