CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Claire E. Peterson, 74, formerly of Charles City, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at the Veterans Home, Marshalltown.

He was born in 1931 in Floyd County, son of Chris and Una Perry Peterson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1972 in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. He was highly decorated in Vietnam. After his discharge, he was employed as a mail carrier for 18 years in California.

Survivors include a son, Chris of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Kim of Upland, Calif., and Susan of Alta Loma, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Kenneth of Charles City and Wayne of Elk Run Heights.

Preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Ivan, Russell and two infants; and two sisters, Iverne Peterson and Lola Anderson.

Memorial services: 10 a.m. Thursday at the Veterans Home, with graveside services in Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, Charles City.
