FLOYD, IOWA - Doris Brown, 99, of Mineola, Texas, formerly of Floyd, Iowa, died Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Wood Memorial Nursing Home in Mineola, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd, with Pastor Martha Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd.

Visitation will be at the church an hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, 701 First Ave., Floyd, IA 50435.

Doris Brown, 99, of Mineola, Tex., formerly of Floyd, died Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Wood Memorial Nursing Home in Mineola, Tex.

Funeral services for Doris Brown will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Pastor Martha Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd.

Visitation will be at the church an hour prior to the service.

Doris May Horr Brown was born November 5, 1915, at Panora, the daughter of Roy and Laura (Wallbaum) Horr. She graduated from Floyd High School in 1934.

In 1935 she was united in marriage to Ralph Brown at Chicago. They moved to Floyd where Doris helped her husband in the first years of his sawmill business. She also worked at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company and at Workman Quarry later Heckman-Reynolds Aggregate and Grading in Floyd where she drove truck. For 19 years she drove school bus for the Floyd and Charles City schools until her arthritis became too debilitating.

In retirement she and Ralph visited family and friends in Minnesota, Arizona and Texas using their travel trailer. Family was always important to both her and Ralph and they enjoyed many happy moments with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Living family members include three daughters, Marjorie (Darrell) Sisson, Colleen (Martin) Nuncio and Joan Thomas; eight grandchildren, Laurie and Joe Sisson, Lisa Sammlar, Kevin Ostrander, Mark Ostrander, Lynn (Mark) Dunn; Jeff (Deb) McKenzie, Denise (Craig) Huffman; seven great grandchildren, Megan, Amanda, Adam, Mike, Heather, Ian and Evan; eight great great grandchildren, Taryn, Jocelyn, Maverick, Georgia, Gabriel, Scarlet, Leah and Elise; a sister, Marie Pyle; a niece, Carol (Steve) Egan; and nephews, Jerry (Anne) Pyle and Doug (Marie) Pyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ralph on April 20, 1990.

Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, 701 1st Avenue, Floyd, IA 50435.
