Barbara Rapp

Birth: May 31, 1938
Death: December 4, 2014

Barbara Rapp, 76, of Estherville, Iowa, and formerly of Floyd, left us all very quietly, gracefully and peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2014, in the presence of her remaining children.

Funeral services for Barbara Rapp will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Martha Bennett of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd.

The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service.

Barbara Elaine Rapp was born May 31, 1938, to Cliff and Viola (Jenkins) Sigler at Charles City. She received her education at the Floyd Consolidated School where she met, eventually fell in love with and married John F. Rapp. They were married in the Little Brown Church at Nashua on June 30, 1955. This union produced four children: Doug, Dee, Kim and John.

Her life was dedicated to being a wife and a mother but one joy that reigned throughout was a love of music and harmony. She spent countless hours with all of her children teaching them songs from her youth and to appreciate the lovely notes of harmony. She played the piano "by ear" and the Hawaiian guitar; she loved to dance, another way to celebrate. She instilled a love of music and performance in each of her children that continues to this day. Her strong belief in God got her through many of the trials she faced in her health in the past few years.

Left to cherish her memory are those remaining children; Doug (Claudia) Rapp, Kim (Dennie) Storey, John (Jackie) Rapp and a son-in-law, Greg McDonald; siblings, Dolores Roberts, Gerry (Gene) Bray, Gloria (Norman) Tolliver, and Bruce (Marilyn) Sigler; 13 grandchildren; Sydney, Dillon, Derrick, Dustin, Doug, Alex, Ashley, Ian, Myles, Ryan, Adam, Morgan, and Shanya; four great grandchildren: Aidan, Arya, Carson, and Addison; and a great many other family and friends.

Meeting her in heaven are her husband, John; her daughter, Dee; her parents, Viola and Cliff; and granddaughter, Melissa Storey.
