ROCKWELL, IOWA - Carolynn (Bailey) Nicholson, 83, of Nora Springs passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 125 E. State St., Mason City, with the Rev. Ron Stein officiating. Burial will be in Nora Springs Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 Third St. N.E., and 641-423-2372.Colonialchapels.com.

Obituary for Carolynn Nicholson

Carolynn (Bailey) Nicholson, 83, of Nora Springs, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday (December 3, 2014) at the First Baptist Church, 125 East State Street, Mason City, with Rev. Ron Stein officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Tuesday (December 2, 2014) at Hogan–Bremer–Moore Colonial Chapels, and one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the family.

Carolynn Nicholson was born in Nora Springs, Iowa, on February 27, 1931, to Gail and Viola (Christensen) Bailey. She graduated from Plymouth High School and married Duane Nicholson on March 22, 1949. They resided in Nora Springsand in this union had six children. After raising her children she attended NIACC to receive her Nursing Degree and retired in Baudette, Minnesota.

Carolynn enjoyed baking sweets for her family and friends, fishing, hunting, and camping. Carolynn’s personality lead her to be a very warm, loving and caring person who loved to laugh, in return guided her into the nursing field that she enjoyed very much.

Carolynn is survived by her husband, Duane Nicholson; two sons, Michael (Karen) Nicholson of Peoria, Illinoia, David Nicholson (Elaine) of Purdy, Missouri.; four daughters, Diane (Daryl) Adrian of Nora Springs; Rebecca (Dean) Avery of Meservey; Denise Lyon of Mason City and Carol (Rick Musser) Sweeneyof Thornton; 17 grandchildren; many great and great great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Alice) Bailey; Norman (Bobbi) Bailey and one sister Connie (John) Friedline.

Carolynn was preceded in death by her parents, Gail and Viola (Christensen) Bailey and her father and mother in-law Elmer and Elsie Nicholson.
