James O. Shoger
Nora Springs - James O. Shoger, 84, Nora Springs, died Saturday (June 14, 1986) at a Nora Springs nursing home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Nora Springs with the Rev. David Guetzke, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.
Visitation will be after 2. p.m. Tuesday at Hogan-Bremer-Scheckler Colonial Chapel in Nora Springs.
Mr. Shoger was born February 11, 1902, in Mitchell county to C.E. and Nettie (Johannason) Shoger. He attended schools in rural Mitchell county.
On December 24, 1928, he married Ruth Potter at the home of her parents in Nora Springs.
He farmed for several years in Mitchell county and for a short while he worked for his father-in-law at Potters Construction Company in Nora Springs.
He was employed for 33 years at Oliver (White) Farm Equipment Company, retiring in 1968.
Mr. Shoger was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and the UAW Local of Charles City.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, Nora Springs; two daughters, Mrs. John (Marlys) Alden, Pierz, Minn. and Mrs. Tim (Mary) Davison, LaPorte City; a son, Merlyn James Shoger, Charleston, W.V.; 20 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a son.
