Mrs. Ruth Shoger, 83, of La Porte City, Iowa, and a long time resident of Nora Springs, died on Thursday, January 6, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 8, 1994 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City, with Rev. Wayne McCoy officiating. Graveside Services were held at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Memorials may be given to the La Porte City Community Senior Center.

She was born on August 11, 1910, in Nora Springs, the daughter of Floyd L. and Ella M. (Tuttle) Potter, Nora Springs. She attended Nora Springs Public School. She married James O. Shoger on December 24, 1928 in Nora Springs, where the family lived most of their lives.

She was a very active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Nora Springs. She served as Nora Springs City Clerk and also was a seamstress for Sheckler Draperies for several years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Davison of La Porte City, Iowa; one son, M. James Shoger of South Charleston, West Virginia; 20 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Marlys Alden; one son, Lynn Shoger; one sister, Edith Jones; and three brothers, Newt, Ralph and Allan Potter.

LaPorte City, Iowa - Ruth Shoger, 83, of 508 Commercial St., Apt. C., died Thursday, January 6, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, after a brief illness.

She was born August 11, 1910 in Nora Springs, daughter of Floyd and Ella Tuttle Potter. She married James O. Shoger on December 24, 1928, in Nora Springs; he died June 1986.

Survived by: a son, M. James Shoger of South Charleston, West Virginia; a daughter, Mary Davison of LaPorte City; 20 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren; and a brother, Roy Potter of Paris, Illinois.

Preceded in death by: a son, Lynn; a daughter, Marlys Alden; three brothers, Newt, Ralph and Allen Potter; and a sister, Edith Jones.

Services: 10 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with 2:30 p.m. graveside services at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Huisman Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: directed to La Porte City Community Senior Center.
