David J. Wiltse, 70, of Charles City, died Friday, October 31, 2014, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for David Wiltse will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Gary Mayer will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Friends may call at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on hour before the funeral Mass.

David John Wiltse, the son of Eugene and Ruth (Bonwell) Wiltse, was born on January 29, 1944 in Charles City. He attended Greene Community Schools for his education. David began working at a tiling company when he finished school. From there, he worked for a few years as a county employee in Bremer County, primarily driving road plows in the winter. David spent the next 17 years working at Koehring Bantam in Waverly before retiring in 1990. He was united in marriage to Joanne Nockels on March 27, 1981, in Charles City.

David was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking and in recent years loved the fishing trips taken with his friends at 11th Street. David always had a welcoming hand for those who brought him slim jims or green apples.

Living family members include his wife of 33 years, Joanne; four children: Kevin (Laurie) Wiltse of Rochester, Minnesota, Mark (DeAnn) Wiltse of Urbandale, Carmen (Jon) Hetzel of Benton, Arkansas and Kelly (Deryk) Evens of Osage; 10 grandchildren; two sisters: Marilyn (Bob) Schroeder of Greene and Carole (Joe) Foxen of Charles City; along with nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lorna Lewis.
