Death: October 31, 2014Alice Ritter, 79, of Charles City, died Friday, October 31, 2014, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Alice Ritter will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Beranek of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Alice Jean Leinaweaver Ritter was born February 13, 1935, in Perry County, Penn., the daughter of Robert and Mary (Zeigler) Leinaweaver. In 1953 she graduated from Newport High School, Newport, PA.
On September 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Roy Ritter at Newport. After Roy's discharge from the Navy in 1954 they moved to Charles City. Alice was practical, efficient, ambitious and someone who enjoyed having fun. Her interests included dancing, golfing, reading and socializing with family and friends.
She was a member of the Wildwood Ladies Golf Association where she held various officer positions throughout the years. Alice won the Wildwood Ladies Golf Tournament for several years. She was a member of the Class of 1949 Lunch Bunch, Heritage Club, Pink Lady at the Floyd County Medical Center and a hospice volunteer.
Living family members include three daughters, Pam (Gary) Schwartz of Des Moines, Judy (Larry) Gentry of Westminster, Colo. and Danelle Clarke (Scott Dunn) of Rome, Italy; three grandchildren, Stacey (Noel) Kehrt, Brian (Jennifer) Schwartz and Devin (Ryan) Egan; five great grandchildren, Mara and Ellen Kehrt, Annabelle and Benjamin Schwartz and Hunter Egan; sister, Naomi Golden of Van Buren, Ohio, brother, Tom(Jean) Leinaweaver of Muncie, Ind.; and a great circle of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy on November 26, 2003; grandson, Ross Weston Gentry; two sisters, Mary Elliott and Margaret Shellenberger; and brother, Robert Leinaweaver.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Friends of Cancer in care of First Citizens National Bank, Hospice of North Iowa in Charles City and Meals On Wheels.
