CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Phyllis Gayther, 88, of Charles City, died Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A graveside memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014, in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City. Pastor Ruth Yeaton from First Baptist Church in Charles City will officiate.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014.

Phyllis Gayther, 88, of Charles City died Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Phyllis Jean Gayther, the daughter of Phillip and Myrtle (Hoag) McManigle, was born July 7, 1926 in Floyd County, Iowa. She attended school in both Floyd and Chickasaw Counties graduating from Nashua High School in 1944.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Harold "Tim" Gayther in 1946 at Spring Valley, Minnesota. She had worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., Trowbridge Super Market, First Security Bank and as a stay at home mom raising her family and taking care of the household.

Living family members include her daughter Shirley (Duane) Greenzweig of Charles City; two grandchildren: Steven (Jackie) Michael of Charles City and Lindsey Michael of Charles City; three great-grandchildren: Joshua Michael, Lexie Carey and Logan Carey; along with other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Tim in 2002; four brothers; and two sisters.
