OBITUARY--
Scott: -- In this city, at the residence of her son, Mr. S. S. Scott, Friday, March 15, 1889, Mrs. Samantha Scott, aged 81 years.
We find the following obituary notice in the Advocate.
Mrs. Scott was born November 1807, at Rutland, Vermont. Her parents soon after removed to Genesee county, New York, and when she was twelve years of age came to Homer, Licking county, Ohio.
In 1826 she married Josiah Scott, residing at Utica, Ohio. There her three sons and four daughters were born; only two of the latter grew up and survive her. In 1855 the family came to Charles City, living for years where the Illinois Central R.R. crosses the Chickasaw road.
Her husband died there in 1861. In early life she united with the Presbyterian Church and has for years been a consistent member of the Congregational Church of this city. Her life has been a quiet one, beautifully illustrating the graces of a Christian character.
