Keith J. Oldham, 83, of Charles City, died Saturday, August 9, 2014, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Gary Mayer will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5p.m. and a Scripture Service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday.

Keith J. Oldham was born in Charles City, Iowa on July 29, 1931. He was the son of Estella Mae and James E. Oldham. He attended Charles City Parochial and Public Grade Schools and graduated from Charles City High School in 1949. He enlisted and served in the Navy from 1949 until his discharge in 1953.

On November 14, 1953 he married Frances L. Heddinger at Immaculate Conception Church. Seven children were born to this union: Joni Schrup (Nick - deceased 2003), James E. Oldham, Jan Kamphuis (Mark), Jill Ryder (William), Joyce Roup (Stephen), Jenifer Withers (James) and Jason R. Oldham (Cynthia Riley).

He served 35 years on the Charles City Fire Department, the last ten as Fire Chief. He retired from the CCFD in 1988. In 1990 he became Floyd County Sanitarian and held that position until 1995. He also worked at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, served on the IC School Board and Calvary Cemetery Board. He was a member of the BPOE Elks for over 63 years, the VFW, American Legion and AmVets. He was a founding member of the Labor Council Credit Union - member #2.

He is preceded in death by his parents James E. Oldham and Estella Mae (Sheets) Oldham.

He is also survived his grandchildren: Sam and Caitlin Schrup; Keith James, Chelsea and Christa Oldham; Kelly Kapsch (Kyle) and Kara Kamphuis; Anna, Carly and Joseph Ryder; Amanda, Ian and Aaron Roup; Cole, Zachary, Alec and Nathan Withers; Max and Harrison Oldham and one great-grandson Benjamin Kapsch.

Keith was a family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed travel, family vacations and road trips. Keith was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan. His love for life was contagious as well as his appreciation for fine wine and premium beer.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Cemetery of Charles City, Hospice of North Iowa and Immaculate Conception School.
