The Iowa Recorder, Greene, Iowa February 26, 1913

Alex Van Myers, an old resident of Marble Rock, is dead and his remains are brought back to that place for burial. The funeral takes place tomorrow under direction of the Masonic order. The lodge from Greene has been notified and C. B. Weston will be in charge as grand marshall.

Word was received here Sunday that Alex Van Myers, a former Marble Rock boy, had been found dead in his bed at a hotel in Oklahoma. His remains will be brought here today for burial.

The remains of Alex Van Myers arrived here last Thursday morning and were laid at rest in the east side cemetery in the afternoon of the same day. The funeral services were conducted by the Masonic fraternity. Alex was found dead in bed and the real cause of his demise will never be known. A.R. Mary was born in Miltilda, Canada, June 11, 1864, and with his parents came to Iowa in the spring of 1865, and grew to manhood in Marble Rock. He died at Salpalpa, Oklahoma, Feb. 21, 1913, aged 48 years. He leaves to mourn his departure two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Morse of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Henry Vickers of Shenandoah, Iowa.
