Aged Marble Rock Lady
Dies at Age of 84

Marble Rock, March 12 - Mrs. Amelia Bedell died at the hospital in Waterloo Sunday morning. Death was the result of a fall at her home here a week ago. Mrs. Bedell, who was 84 years of age, was sitting on the side of her bed and in reaching down to pick up an article, fell to the floor.

She was a pioneer resident of Marble Rock and is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Gertrude White, Marble Rock and a son, Harry Bedell, Cook, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Chamberlain of Marble Rock and Mrs. Melva Masters of Wyoming.

Funeral services were held in the Christian church her Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Hill Side cemetery.

Marble Rock

An Early Pioneer of
Marble Rock Passes Away

Amelia Yerrick was born February 14, 1845, in Summit County, Ohio. Her parents moved from there to Illinois, coming to Iowa in 1856, where they settled on a farm two and one-half miles south of Marble Rock.

She was married to Wm. F. Bedell at Waterloo, May 26, 1865. They resided in Union township, Floyd county, Iowa, until 1870, when they moved to Oxford, Wisconsin, returning to Iowa in 1881, where she has resided ever since.

She passed away on March 10, 1929, at Allen Memorial hospital, Waterloo, Iowa, of complications. She had been afflicted with diabetes for the past six years and March 2nd she suffered a broken hip in a fall.

She is survived by one son, Harry A., of Cook, Minnesota, and one daughter, Gertie T. White, of Marble Rock. Also three sisters, Eliza Chamberlain, of Marble Rock, Lavina Larcher, of Chicago, and Melva H. Masters, of Joplin, Montana; two grandchildren, Verl L. Smith and Pet A. Frizzell, also five greatchildren, all of Marble Rock.

Her husband preceded her in death on October 12, 1899. One daughter, Ladesa, died at the age of two years, also three brothers, Oliver, Adam and Cornelius, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Comstock and Mrs. Sophia Berry.

Funeral services were held in the Christian church at Marble Rock on Tuesday afternoon of last week, and were in charge of Rev. L.W. Inman, of Charles City. Interment was in Hill Side cemetery at this place.
