Obituary

Jennie E. Johnson was born September 15, 1875 on a farm near Madison, in Madison county, Nebraska, and died June 18, 1909, at her home near Greene, Iowa.

At the age of four years her parents moved to Wisner, Nebr., and resided two years after which they moved to Stanton in Stanton county Nebraska. It was here that Jennie grew to womanhood. She graduated from the Stanton high school in 1893 as valedictorian of her class and then took a normal training course at Gates college, Neligh, Nebr.

She then taught school for six years and was known as one of Stanton county's most successful teachers.

On the 23rd of June, 1898, Jennie E. Johnson was untied in marriage to B. M. Allen of Greene, Iowa, near which place they have always resided.

At the age of 14 years Jennie became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Stanton, Nebr., and has always lived a consistent, christian life.

Mrs. Jennie Allen was one of a family of eleven children, eight of who survive her. One brother, Joseph E. Johnson died in infancy and one sister, Anna Olena Johnson died August 30, 1899. The remaining members of the family are: Mrs. Nora Whisman of Pilger, Nebr., Miss Leda Johnson of Rea, Idaho, Cyrus and William Johnson of Stanton, Neb. Lillie, Josephine and Erwin Johnson of Vesta, S. Dak, her mother, Mrs. Christena Johnson, of Vesta, S.D. and Sadie Johnson, of Omaha, Nebr.

Mrs. Allen also leaves four surviving children, Edward, Albert, Roy and George who with the husband are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother.

Mrs. Allen has been in delicate health for some time but not until the last six weeks did the relatives and friends consider her seriously ill. She has suffered much but has been patient and cheerful through all and has finally gone peacefully to her last rest.

Relatives from a distance here to the funeral were: Mrs. Nora Whisman, Pilger, Nebr., Miss Sadie Johnson, Omaha, Cyrus Johnson, Stanton, Nebr. and Miss Lillie Johnson, Vesta, S. Dak.
