Eli Folsom was born in Hallowell, Maine, August 30, 1818, and died at the home of Mrs. A.Y. Bedell, March 29, 1904. At the age of 22 years he came west to Illinois. In the year 1853 he was married to Olive A. Bedell. In the year 1855 he moved to Iowa. During the war he enlisted in Co. I, Third Reg., Minnesota Volunteers and after service of nine months he was discharged on account of physical disability. On May 7, 1885, he was bereft of his wife. He has been an invalid for many years, but for the last three years he has been almost entirely helpless. For the last seven years he has made his home with his sister-in-law, Mrs. A.Y. Bedell, and where the funeral services were held, Rev. J. Hilburn officiating. Interment as Eastside Cemetery.
