Ladesa Feller was born August 11, 1819 in Ostpen township, Northhampton County, Penn., where she resided until 11 years old when her father died. Her mother, with eight children then moved to Media county, Ohio, a distance of about four hundred miles, the family walking most of the way, her mother traveling with only one team.

In about 1840 she was married to Simon Yerrick. In 1845 they moved to Naperville, Dupage County, Illinois. In 1856 they moved to Floyd County, Iowa, 2 1/2 miles south of Marble Rock, being the first settlers between Greene and Marble Rock. She resided near Marble Rock over 44 years.

She was the mother of nine children of whom all but one, together with 8 grand-children and three [great] grandchildren and one brother live to mourn her death. The surviving children are: Oliver Yerrick, of Waterloo, Iowa, Mrs. Amelia Y. Bedell, Mrs. Mary A. Comstock, Mrs. Eliza Chamberlain, Adam Yerrick and Mrs. Melva H. Smith of Marble Rock, Mrs. Sophia Berry, Cresco, Iowa, Mrs. Lavina Larcher, Chicago.

She joined the Evangelical church when quite young which she attended regularly until coming to Iowa where there was none of that denomination, she then attended any church, until opportunity offered to join the German Methodist. She was a great reader of the Bible, reading it every day, and retaining her memory and activity until almost the last.

Her last illness was of short duration and without pain. She was taken sick on Monday night and died Thursday morning, November 22, 190, at about 3 o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bedell, where she had resided for the past three years.
