CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Robert E. "Bob" Molstead, 71, of Charles City, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Allen Hospital.

He was born December 13, 1936, in Waterloo, son of Lawrence and Hazel Smith Molstead. He married Ruth Hoeg on July 21, 1956, in Waterloo.

Mr. Molstead was employed with John Deere for 34 years. He sold cars for Jim Denning Chevrolet, Reinbeck, and C&S Car Company, Waterloo, and most recently was associated with his son at Mike Molstead Motors, Charles City. He was an active member of the Waterloo Elks Lodge.

Survived by his wife; a son, Michael (Paula) of Charles City; two daughters, Kim (Tom) Brunscheon and Barbara (Steven) Hoppe, both of Charles City; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne (Sue) of Waterloo and Michael of Cedar Falls; a sister, Joyce (Ed) Harvey of Vancouver, Wash.; and his dog, Bailey

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in Charles City. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also anhour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception School in Charles City, or the Shrine Children's Hospitals.

Bob was a real sports enthusiast and was very active in refereeing football and basketball games and umpiring baseball on the high school level throughout the state of Iowa.
