Ronald Dean Ritter, the son of Leo and Ethel (Wagner) Ritter, was born December 4, 1932 in Marble Rock, Iowa. He attended school in Marble Rock and helped farmers around the area. When he was able, Ronald enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country for almost three years during the Korean Conflict. Ronald achieved the rank of Private First Class and was awarded the UN Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. In 1971, the family moved to Charles City where they have lived ever since. During his working career Ronald was a roofer, worked for Charles City Western Railroad and for Allied Ready Mix. He loved to go fishing whenever he had the chance, and enjoyed sharing this time with family. Ronald was an avid mushroom and asparagus hunter, enjoyed junking, hunting, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings, playing cards and taking trips to the casino. Ronald loved the time he and Bethel would spend together every morning drinking their coffee and playing Yahtzee.
