GREEN ISLE, MINNESOTA - Shirley Maxine (Arndt) Paulsen, 79, of Green Isle, Minn., formerly of Nora Springs, Iowa, died Friday, June 13, 2014.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle, with interment at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be directed to: Bill Paulsen, Box 52, Green Isle, MN 55338.

Kolden Funeral Service of Arlington, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Maxine Paulsen

(March 4, 1935 - June 13, 2014)

Shirley Maxine (Arndt) Paulsen was called to her eternal home on Friday, June 13, 2014 having been graciously blessed of the Lord to serve in His Kingdom for 79 years. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Rev. Eric Rapp will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the church and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

On June 1, 1957 Shirley was united in marriage to William Christian Paulsen. They were blessed with five children. Shirley grew up in Nora Springs, Iowa. She and her husband relocated to Elk River, Minnesota, in 1962. In 1963 the family moved to Green Isle. Shirley worked as a waitress, factory worker, a cook at the Good Samaritan Center in Arlington and at the Klein Bank service center.

After 19 years of a courageous battle of multiple health issues she was called home to her heavenly Father. She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, hosting family holidays, teaching her grandchildren to cook, listening to country music and shopping.

Shirley is survived by her husband, William Paulsen; children, Rick (Lori) Paulsen, Jean (Dennis) Strack, Jan Larson and Christie Paulsen; grandchildren, Travis (Melissa) Paulsen, Kara (Bryan) Ihrke, David (Jennifer) Strack, Jeff (Emily) Strack, Kasey Stevens, Ashley Larson and William Larson; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Crotty and brothers, Bob (Joyce) Arndt and Jerry Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jimmy Paulsen; 10 brothers and one sister.
