Another Mother Is Called Away

Mrs. John Hemker died on October 10, 1922, at 4 o'clock, in the afternoon, at her home in this city, following an illness of about a year.

Amelia Kley was born in West Prussia, Europe on June 26, 1856. She was married to Carl Schultz in 1877, and they came to America in 1885 and settled near Charles City, Iowa, where Mr. Schultz died.

Three children were born to them: Mrs. Herman Bergman, Tripoli, Iowa, and Fred and Otto Schultz, both of Charles City. On May 2, 1890 she was married at Charles City to Mr. John Hemker of New Hampton. They made their home on a farm north of this place until three years ago when they bought a home on South Chestnut avenue where they have since resided.

Those who are left to mourn the loss of this good woman are her husband and seven children: Mrs. August Priebe and Mrs. Herman Priebe, residing north of town, Henry Hemker of Rudolph, Wis., Mrs. Joe Miller and Mrs. Clarence Bremer of Charles City, Mrs. Albert Schneider, residing south of New Hampton, and Miss Bertha Hemker, who is at home, also one stepdaughter, Mrs. Henry Krumrey, of Wapanucka, Okla. She is also survived by one brother, Carl Kley, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Krumrey, both of Charles City, also nineteen grandchildren.

The splendid children she has left behind her, exemplify the fine character of this good woman, who was highly respected and greatly beloved by all who knew her. The funeral arrangements were not completed at the time this obituary was written.

Burial will be made in Graceland Cemetery.
