SUMNER, IOWA - Ronald Edward Wentz, 66, of Sumner, died at home Thursday, June 12, 2008, after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 16, 1942, in Charles City, son of Glen and Gertrude Hunn Wentz. He married Dolores Maxine McClaren in 1972. She died April 24, 1988. He then married Maurine Platte on Jan. 20, 1989, at St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner.

Mr. Wentz graduated from Columbus High School, Waterloo, in 1963, then worked at John Deere Foundry for 30 years, retiring in 1993. After his retirement, he worked for Blackhawk Roofing and Tava Distributing. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Randy Troutwine, and Terry (Linda), Larry (Julie) and Gary (Kerrie Moore) Wentz, all of Waterloo; two daughters, Heather (Steve Burrows) Cline and Maggie (Doug) Fober, both of Sumner; a daughter-in-law, Robin Troutwine of Decatur, Texas; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles (Lois) of Waterloo, and Kenneth, Glen (Joyce) and Robert (Marian), all of Rockford, Illinois; and two sisters, Carol (Eldon) Rodberg of Red Level, Alabama, and Elaine Holberg of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, Steve Troutwine; and two sisters, Marlene and Betty Wentz.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner, followed by cremation. Public visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
