Louise Mae Huxsol, the daughter of Irving and Sophia (Jung) Huxsol, was born May 18, 1924 on a farm in Pleasant Grove Township, rural Charles City. She attended country school at Pleasant Grove #2 and graduated from Charles City High School in 1941. After graduating, Louise remained on the farm to help her parents raise chickens, pick corn by hand and help with all other aspects of farm life.

Louise was active in 4-H, gardening, cooking and sewing while living on the farm. She taught her nieces to sew on a treadle machine. Louise moved into town in 1974. She started working at the Floyd County Engineer's office in 1957 and continued there until retiring in 1985 after almost thirty years. Louise was a member of Wa Tan Ye until the group disbanded.

Louise was baptized and confirmed as a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, was a member of United Methodist Women, served on various church committees and recorded the church radio broadcast for many years.

Louise loved to travel and drove to California and Wyoming with her mother. Later she traveled to Europe, including the Netherlands, Germany, Scandinavia, and also Australia and New Zealand.

Living family members include her brother, Marvin (Phyllis) Huxsol; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth Boelsen; and a brother, Walter Huxsol.

The family suggests memorials be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church, Charles City and/or Hospice of North Iowa.
