NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Emery D. Geisler, 88, of Nora Springs, died Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs.

Obituary for Emery D. Geisler

Emery D. Geisler, 88, of Nora Springs, Iowa died Monday, June 9,2014 at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs.

Emery was born January 24, 1926 in Fertile, Iowa, the son of Walter and Etta Geisler. He attended school in Nora Springs. Emery enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 and proudly served on the USS Toledo until he was discharged in 1954.

He was a farmer his entire life. Emery was known by his neighbors to be a top-notch farmer and took great pride in his machinery, farmstead, and crops.

Emery had a great sense of humor and took a lot of teasing from his friends in stride. He will be remembered by all for his heart warming smile.

He married Betty Reynolds on August 28, 1965 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with a son, Bill, who was the pride and joy of Emery.

He will be truly missed by his close friends and relatives. Special people in Emery's life are his son Bill "Buckwheat" Geisler, Nora Springs, Iowa; nephew, Nick (Janice) Schmitt, Osage, Iowa; Sister-in-Law, JoAnn Hughey, Asheville, North Carolina; and good friend Dick Weiner, Nora Springs, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Donald Geisler, Lyle Geisler, Warren Geisler; and three sisters, Myrtle Lemke, Arlis Meyer, and Dorothy Schmitt.

A private memorial and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, Iowa, or American Legion Post 449, Nora Springs, Iowa. Condolences may be sent to Bill Geisler, 1591 Avon Ave., Nora Springs, Iowa 50458.
