Witter Funeral Set for Friday at Charles City

CHARLES CITY - Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hauser Funeral Home here for Floyd E. Witter who died Tuesday at the Cedar Valley Hospital where he had been a patient for the past 11 days.

The Rev. E.G. Steinman, pastor of the Floyd Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery near Floyd. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will extend military honors at the graveside.

Mr. Witter had been in failing health for the past year and a half, death resulting from cancer.

He had been a farmer in the Floyd area for the past 25 years. He was veteran of World War I. He was born Aug. 23, 1893, at Belvidere, Ill., the son of Fred and Mary Neff Witter. He married Lenore Workman, on Sept. 1, 1925 in Mason City.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Neil Witter, Independence, Mo., two grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters; Joseph and Dale Witter, both of Rockford; Merle Witter, Phoenix, Ariz.; Lucile Witter, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Jesse Cheney, Akeley, Minn.; Mrs. Lulu Buschmeyer, Independence, Mo., and Miss Bernice Witter, Monticello, Minn.

His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
