Last Rites Held For J. M. Witter

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, August 29, 1968 at the Wilcox Funeral Home for Joseph M. Witter, 69, who passed away Tuesday, Aug 27, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital at Charles City following a short illness.

Services were conducted by Rev. Byron W. Ayers. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery at Rockford. Pallbearers were H. J. Pribbenow, Richard Messiur, R. L. VanDeventer, Julius Meier, Clayton Lines and Oelwin Trevett.

Joseph Martin Witter was born August 26, 1899, near Marble Rock. His entire life ws spent in the Rockford area. For 10 years he operated the Witter Ice, Fuel and Feed Business in Rockford.

He is survived by his wife, Leona, one brother, Dale, Rockford and four sisters. Mrs. Jessie Cheney, Park Rapid, Minn., Lucile Witter, Los Angeles, Calif.; Bernice Witter, Monticello, Minn., and Mrs. Lula Buschmeyer, Independence, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
