Charles Foutz – May 14, 1886 – July 23, 1956

CHARLES FOUTZ DIED RECENTLY

Charles Foutz, 70, passed away July 23rd at 9 a.m. at his home in Independence Iowa. He had been ill and had been in the hospital at Iowa City, but was considered better. He was born May 14, 1886 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

He is survived by a second wife, three children by his first marriage, Robert Foutz of Marble Rock, Mrs. Virginia Hayung of Waterloo and Mrs. Betty McBride of Clear Lake, two step-daughters, Mrs. Luther Morton of Independence and Mrs. Frank Warren of Cedar Rapids; and 8 grandchildren.

Mr. Foutz formerly lived at Marble Rock, going to Independence about 17 years ago where he was the butcher at the hospital for some years. Later he secured a position as cook at a fraternity house at Ames during the school year and spent the summers at his home in Independence.

Charles Foutz married Edna Fern Losee, the daughter of Hiram Losee and Phoebe (Smith) Losee.
