Miss Susan Wodtke, Charles City, Dies at Grinnell College

CHARLES CITY, Jan 19 - Susan Wodtke, local student who was attending Grinnell college, died at Grinnell at 4 o'clock this morning, following an operation Friday night for appendicitis. She is the granddaughter of Judge C.H. Kelley. Miss Wodtke, who was graduated form the local high school, was 17 years of age. Her birthday is in May*. Funeral arrangements have not been made. The body will be brought her for burial. He father, Griffith Wodtke, and a local physician went to Grinnell yesterday afternoon.

Services for Miss Susan Wodtke, Charles City, Held

Student Who Succumbed at Grinnell Was Champion Woman Golfer.

CHARLES CITY, Jan. 21 - Funeral services for Susan Wodtke were held at Grace Episcopal church at 2 o'clock this afternoon with the Rev. W.C. Bimson, former rector of Willmar, Minn., and the Rev. Hector Thompson, present rector, in charge. Seats were reserved for the Rainbow Girls and members of Susan's graduating class of 1930 of the local high school and the floral offerings banked the coffin and chancel of the church.

Miss Wodtke, who would have been 18 on March* 9, was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Griffith M. Wodtke and granddaughter of Judge and Mrs. C.H. Kelley. She died Sunday morning in a Grinnell hospital following an operation on Friday night. She took a prominent part in the musical activities in the high school and Grinnell college and last year won the city golf championship for women.

*One notice has her birth month listed as May and the other lists her birth month as March.
