Harlan Leroy Hayungs -- April 25, 1938 – August 11, 2007

Harlan L. Hayungs died on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Knute Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 69. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowry, MN with the Pastor Curt Larson officiating.
Jane Dingwall played the organ, Kristen Breum was the soloist, and the St. Paul’s Lutheran Women Choir sang special music.
Honorary Pallbearers were Robert Hayungs, Janet Greene, Donald Hayungs, and Ronald Hayungs.

Harlan LeRoy Hayungs was born on April 25, 1938, in Marble Rock, Iowa the son of Arthur and Virginia (Foutz). He graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1956. He then married Judith Good on August 9, 1958, in Dassel, MN. Together they started a family and had four daughters: Eileen, Cynthia, Shelly, and Brenda. Harlan and his family lived in Coon Rapids while he drove truck for Briggs Transportation. Harlan moved to Pierz, MN in 1974, where he owned a dairy farm for a couple of years. In 1976 Harlan purchased a farm near Barrett, MN where he and his family made their home. He later moved to Alexandria and in 1999 Harlan and Judith moved to Lowry, MN.

Harlan enjoyed attending his daughters school activities, always being their #1 fan. He liked to hunt with his friends in his earlier years and was a proud John Deere man. Harlan’s main hobby was woodworking. He made baby cradles, dollhouses and other furniture for his family and friends. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowry, MN. Harlan loved his wife of 49 years, his daughters and grandchildren very much. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Hayungs of Lowry; daughters, Eileen (Tom) Tvrdik of Lowry, Cynthia Turner of Sauk Rapids, Shelly (Greg) Schelin of LeSueur, MN, Brenda (Wayne) Breum of Monticello, MN; grandson, Allen (Kristen) Breum of Alvin, TX; granddaughters, Alicia (Ryan) Anderson of Monticello, MN, Christine Tvrdik of Minneapolis, Tara Turner of Sauk Rapids, Allyson Schelin of LeSueur, Rochelle Tvrdik of Alexandria, Kelly Schelin of LeSueur; great granddaughter, Kara Breum of Alvin, TX; brothers, Robert (Karleda) Hayungs of Clear Lake, IA, Donald (Sandy) Hayungs of La Porte City, IA, Ronald (Shirley) Hayungs of La Porte City, IA; and a sister, Janet Greene of Waterloo, IA.
